The SCWP

Student Concerned Wrestling Party
SLU Campus · Spring 2000

What Was the SCWP?

In the year 2000, a blue-collar wrestling club on the campus of Saint Louis University attempted something that had never been attempted before — and has never been attempted since.

Led by the enigmatic Kenny Kraft, the Student Concerned Wrestling Party launched a full-scale coup against the political elite of SLU. What followed was a period of campus upheaval, backroom deals, and athletic confrontation that would go down in Billiken lore as one of the most audacious power grabs in collegiate club sports history.

"We wrestle with the issues so that you don't have to!"

Kenny Kraft was willing to wrestle with the issues facing SLU students at the turn of the millennium, so that they wouldn't have to. A more noble cause, you will not have found.

However — and we say this with the deepest respect — one could argue that Evan Hart's sacrifice was nobler still. By jumping on the Becky Shelby grenade to secure the required funds to properly run a rugby club (and fuel Stannis's 900-number addiction), Hart performed an act of selflessness that transcends ordinary heroism. But we are splitting hairs.

The Wrestling Club

Blue collar. Blue mat. Blue collar on a blue mat. They weren't here to make friends.

👑

Kenny Kraft

The man. The myth. The motion to reconvene. His name is still spoken in hushed tones in the Halls of SLU.

📜

The Petition

Allegedly signed by every wrestler, several confused rugby players, and at least one Jesuit priest who thought he was signing a mass card.

The Aftermath
